The members of AFVOA mourn the demise of Maj W J Chellappa who passed away on 08 th Feb 2003. AFVOA extends its condolences to the members of the bereaved family Farewell 37. Group Captain Dilip Kumar Dass, Vr C, who has the twin distinctions of being the holder of the world record for having the highest number of flying hours (and that, accident free) on the redoubtable HUNTER ground attack fighter aircraft (which served numerous air forces all over the world from 1955-57 into the mid 90’s) and of being the air hero of the Battle of Longewalla picturised in the film “Border”, and is, true to his ilk, a patriot and a gentleman to the core, has decided to relocate at Secunderabad along with Mrs Krishna Dass. He bids farewell to the members of the AFVOA with a heavy heart, but is confident that we will not forget that there is a home in Secunderabad that will readily welcome us when we happen to visit the twin cities. “Groupie” Dass’s daughter Jayashri stays behind in Chennai, in her assignment at SCOPE (the Standard Chartered Bank back-office operations at
