It is worth mentioning that at the last Meeting, about sixty of our officers had given the draft affidavits, so that they could be notarised by a Notary Public. This has since been done. Others who are keen to have it notarized may still give the details as given out in page 11 (affidavit) of the Application form. In chronicling an exemplary life, the AFVOA newsletter also sticks to convention, though not always. Squadron Leader KV Pillai, the 92 years and something veteran, whom we had the proud privilege of honouring two meetings ago, leads a life today, and that at his age, which deserves a reversal of convention. His alertness and continued activities spanning a wide variety of interests would do a very much younger person quite proud. His “today” bears ample witness to his “yesterdays”, and no one can be left in doubt as to what it is in these souls that makes them role models for all of us who aspire not to end up senile at any advanced age, leave alone prematurely. He IS an avid and voracious reader of books on subjects as diverse as philosophy, the scriptures, science, gardening, and of short stories. He has marvelous power of recall of all that he reads, to the extent that he can reproduce and teach others whatever he learns (and that is a lot). He is a kind hearted and community service oriented homoeopathic physician. His habits arid thinking are clean and clear, denoting his positive outlook. His other hobbies are numismatics and philately. He loves animals.
