An attempt to resettle Ex-servicemen was made by Commodore S Shekhar I.N. at a meeting of the TNSS&A Board. He projected that the latent talent of Ex Servicemen as an educated and disciplined force be fully harnessed in the growing IT enabled services market, in the State. The idea is for the setting up Customer Contact Centres (Call Centres) in all the districts of Tamil Nadu, commencing with Chennai. There is now a need to examine the possibility of a group of Ex-servicemen who are willing to get together to form an association for this purpose. Technical expertise is available. Liaison with the Government of Tamil Nadu would be processed through the Department of Ex Servicemen Welfare. If the model is successful it can be replicated in other districts of Tamil Nadu in a phased manner. Commodore Shekhar has agreed to explain the details of the project during our meeting on 22 nd Dec 2002. Support Centre 19. You may all be aware that Wg Cdr K Rajagopal had a traumatic experience recently. People react differently to such situations. Unfortunately, Rajagopal had a bad experience in that he felt at a loss and very very lonely. To overcome this loneliness he went away to the US to be with his daughter. While in NY he visited American Cancer Society at New York. After talking to them he found that there is a ‘Support Group’ which meets to help people to tide over such losses. He found that this was very useful. And having such groups here, would certainly be beneficial. Even though he does not want to feel morbid, It is a fact of life that one of the spouse has to go first, leaving the second one in bewilderment. It is here that such support groups can make the person pick up the threads of life once again and not remain grieving continuously. He feels that we as an Association could start something on similar lines. Next Meeting Never bear more than one kind of trouble at a time. Some people bear three kinds; all they have had, all they have now, and all they expect to have. ~ Edward Everett Hale ~ (1822 – 1909; American Writer) 20.
