As Isaac Asimov, the renowned science fiction writer mentioned: “ It is change, continuing change, inevitable change, that is the dominant factor in society today .” We in the AFVOA, are well aware of this fact, and hence periodically, there is a change in the Managing Committee. The names of the new members are listed in the block above. 2. An impressionable trait of a Service Officer is the positive attitude. It is his constant endeavour to achieve results and resolve problems. He works towards doing a job and not worry about why it should not be done, and why it cannot be done. If we give the numerical value to the alphabets as per their order in the English language, to the word ‘ATTITUDE ’, it is seen that the value is (1 + 20 + 20 + 9 + 20 + 21 + 4 + 5) = 100 . Hence, it may be inferred that if our attitude is correct, we can be assured of cent per cent success. Meeting Gone By Dwell not on the past. Use it to illustrate a point, then leave it behind. Nothing really matters except what you do now in this instant of time. From this moment onwards you can be an entirely different person, filled with love and understanding, ready with an outstretched hand, uplifted and positive in every thought and deed. ~ Eileen Caddy ~ (Spiritual Writer) 3. Our last meeting was held on 10 th June 2001, at our usual venue – Youth Hostel, Indira Nagar. The redeeming feature of the meeting was the large attendance. Almost a hundred members turned up, though only 50 of them had taken care to confirm. This made the organizers sweat more than the summer heat would have caused, as they had to find additional chairs as well as cater for the extra 50 people who had turned up!! Thanks to the positive attitude, they found a workable solution. To a certain extent, they were assisted by the new caterer, who had made tasty food, but it was far more spicy than what the members were used to – this prevented them from helping themselves a second time!!! Dilbert’s Principles of Management!!!!! Don’t be irreplaceable. If you can’t be replaced, you can’t be promoted.
