Section 6 - Memoirs CV 2 No. 01 / 2021 Page 72 of 123 4 Damned If You Do, Damned If You Don’t Wg Cdr C Ravishankar Genre: Life in the forces hile this is not a classical sequel to the author’s previous article titled “Men will be Men” ( in the Vijay Diwas issue of CV2 dated Dec 16, 2021 – Page 109 - http://afvoa.in/eBook/AFVOA_Newsletter_2020/HTML3 ), the incident amply showcased the light hearted pranks of the officers in an operational unit, the Commander’s sporting indulgence of them as well as the ability to take a joke on himself, the invisible thread called the ‘course spirit’, the brand of camaraderie that is unique to the men in blue and above all the large hearted benevolence of our ladies. Yes, it was a Catch 22 situation. Lexicographically, it is a paradoxical situation from which an individual cannot escape because of contradictory rules/positions. Relating this position to us in the aftermath of the ballerina episode, we knew we were damned if we did something, and damned more if we did not do anything. How did we get out of it alive?
