Section 7 – Panorama CV 2 No. 02 / 2021 Page 291 of 332 17 Inspection, Air Force Style Wg Cdr Raju Srinivasan Genre: Life in the Forces he AOC-in-C TC and Mrs Chauhan visited AFAC in Dec 1979. I was into the last month of the first six-month of training as a Flt Cadet. A day before the visit, I reported sick with a bout of cold (the MO slip says _Nasal Catarrh_). Apart from the prescription, the slip said 'Admitted for observation'. I had to go to the in-patient block and was 'admitted' in to a two-bedded ward. I was the sole occupier. Nobody came to 'observe' my parameters and was instructed by the MO to be in the bed all times - no roaming around!! Next day for the AOC-in-C visit. Mrs Chauhan, as the Regional President of AFWWA, visited the hospital and went around the In-Patient's wards. The same MO accompanied her. She visited the Flt Cdt Ward too. I was supine in the bed when she came. She asked me 'how are you' and wished 'speedy recovery'. Then, she turned to the WO (part of the entourage) and took a packet (probably, sweets) and was just going to hand it over to me. The MO stepped forward and told her _"Ma'am, he has a stomach upset and it is not advisable to give the sweets"._ The box was returned to the WO and the entourage left! Once the visit was over and the C-in-C party left AFAC, the MO called me and told me to return to the Flts and resume trg. The slip says _RTU!_ (Later, in Service, I came to know that the Hospital Wards has to be 'active with in- patients' for the Cdr's Inspection and for Audit.) T
