AFOVA New Letter 2 of Year 2021
Section 6 - Memoirs CV 2 No. 02 / 2021 Page 165 of 332 I am amazed at a very common sight that I see in Chennai - the drunkards sprawled on the road side. They can be seen in any part of Chennai at any time of the day. Initially I used to think that these are victims of seizures, hit and run cases, heart attacks etc. I used to wonder why the people of Chennai are so heartless and ignore such sights. The eye opener for me was when I tried to help out one such roadside drunkard; I was warned by the passer-by’s that I will be landing myself in trouble if the guy comes to his senses and accuses me having made away with his money, cell phone and valuables. I now have my answer; people of Chennai are not thick skinned, they are sensible as they are known for. Filter Coffee The filter coffee of Chennai is the ultimate and there is nothing better than to sip a cuppa of the best brewed coffee. Chennai has many a private outlets where a variety of coffee seeds are available. A hard core coffee fan of Chennaite firmly believes in picking up the coffee seeds of his choice (be it Pea Berry, Plantation A or B etc) and getting it roasted and ground in his presence. Ask me, which is the best aroma in the world and in order of my choice, I would say it is the aroma of coffee seeds being roasted, followed by the aroma of fresh coffee being brewed. There are many things big and trivial which add to the colour of Chennai; be it the amalgamation of traditional or modernism, youth or the old, conventional or liberal, slums or multi storied apartments. The assemblage is getting more colourful day by day with the contributors being the simple citizens of Singara Chennai.
