AFOVA New Letter 2 of Year 2021

Section 6 - Memoirs CV 2 No. 02 / 2021 Page 164 of 332 not a mannequin in an auto and that they do work when I engage an auto in my travel outside Chennai say in Delhi, Bangalore or Pune Police of Chennai Although I prefer to address them as Cops of Chennai, I do not want to be accused of using an uncomplimentary term. Hence, I stick to the word Police. For me they are the best turned out lot and you would get to see them spick and span always. It beats me as how they are able to present themselves so neatly especially in humid and harsh climate and the dust pollution in Chennai. A special mention I must make of the police of traffic branch, who always adorn a white shirt and are on the road always. They leave their counterparts in other parts of the country way behind.. Sari Scarf and Sneakers Women of Chennai are health conscious and they go about their early morning walks religiously. However modern, the women here are, some of them prefer to wear their traditional sari for walks. So it is not an uncommon sight (may be hilarious) to see women going for walk in Sari, Scarf and Sneakers. This is what I call the Three S’s. TASMAC Selling of liquor in Chennai is controlled by the State government and sold through TASMAC shops. TASMAC shops have no branding or image building to do with and their locations are easily identifiable. The people who man these outlets are government employees and they are a law by themselves. MRP (Maximum Retail Price) marked on the bottles have no meaning and irrespective of the brand everything comes at a premium. Being an ex fauji and my requirement of booze is taken care of by the army canteen. However out of curiosity I have visited TASMAC. A visit to TASMAC shops and also to its attached so called bar, is an experience by itself. The shops per se and so called attached bars defy the basic sanitary and safety standards. The dimly bars are littered with water packets, plastic glasses, bottle caps, cigarette and beedi buds; walls plastered with excise duty labels peeled off from the caps of bottles. Less said the better about the fly infested eatables that are sold here. My first visit to a TASMAC bar was a stomach retching experience. This makes me wonder whether a sanitary department exists in Chennai.
