Our Batallion Second in Command Major NS GILL had fetched up and brought the much awaited Mail bag. I too got a letter from my wife which I read with my torch light in the trench. The next morning I got up early to find the Pak Camp quiet and they had finished the digging of graves. They had dug 10 graves deep enough to take 10 to 12 bodies each.We observed proper decorum and gave the respect due to a martyr.We represented our Army and sprikled earth on the graves . The Pak Major was moved by our gesture and for the first time showed respect and said “Thank you Sir” Around 0900 hrs Our Brigade Commander Brigadier Adi A Irani ,visited us at the ambush site to assess the damage and congratulate us.He said that in view of the surrender of Pak Forces, Pak Vehicles from Dhaka would be coming to pick us up around noon. He cautioned that We should conduct ourselves in an exemplanary manner and not lower the image of the Army and honour of our country.
