Section 7- From the Archives CV 2 No. 02 / 2020 Page 232 of 237 Tribute - Brig Mrs K Muthulaxmi of the Military Nursing Service now an octogenarian, has been our permanent co-opted lady member and continues doing yeomen service for the welfare of all ranks in the Armed forces in the Station. Apart from representing the lady members of the Association, she is an Advocate cum Notary Public, empowered to draft and Notarise legal documents. She functions as a one-stop window for members for dealing with cases pertaining to marital discord, Settlement Deeds, Wills and its Probation and providing correct legal advice to the members whenever sought. A living Angel for many of us to help sort out legal requirements with least effort and avoid trudging in the myriad corridors of the High court and other offices of the Government. Muthulaxmi – as her name implies is a true “Pearl Goddess”, a tireless lady member who continues to be a pillar of strength to the AFVOA. Her contribution towards welfare of all ESM will always be remembered. Sponsorship of Meetings/Newsletter The proposal put forth by the Editorial team to permit sponsorship of meetings/newsletters by organizations desirous of promoting their products by making use of the forum was agreed to. (Members continue to utilize the facility. Our member Col T.N. Raman who was running two Security Service agencies sponsored the newsletter 2 of 2002 dated 7 Feb 2002. One dealing with aspects of Security, Surveillance and Investigation Services under the banner Best Security Services and the other under the name of Updater Services dealing with Integrated Facility management Services. Out Station Membership AFVOA The request of members to continue membership of the AFVOA even if they move out of station was prompted by the outgoing President Maj Gen Ram Naidu who paid the subscription for the ensuing year even though he was relocating to Bangalore. The gesture was applauded and a decision taken that we may permit outstation membership to those who opt for it. The decision gave the opportunity to such members to continue association and enjoy the camaraderie. (10 more opted as outstation members subsequently and they were separately listed in the Tele directory Hello Veterans 2004) AFVOA Member Honoured Colonel (Dr) LRA Narayanan, Engrs, a Fellow of the Dr MS Swaminathan Research Foundation was honoured with the coveted Bhaskara Award, instituted by the Indian Society of Remote Sensing (ISRS) a professional body of eminent scientists who specialised in the field of advancement and dissemination of remote sensing technology in the fields of mapping, planning and management of natural resources.
