Engrs, and d) Sqn Ldr H.RAMAKRISHNAN IAF AE (M) As the elderly veterans walked upright like true soldiers and were honoured with the traditional Ponnadai. Lt Gen C. Sundara Rao – the patron gracefully draped the shawl over the shoulders of each one of them. One could see a glint of moisture in their eyes while accepting the honour from the younger members of the Services Family. The GOC and his wife were moved by the manner in which the programme was choreographed to honour the elderly veterans. He offered his salutations to the Patron, President and all members for having invited them over for the function. He found that the occasion was apt to convey the initiatives taken by his headquarters in order to improve the lot of ex Servicemen. The following aspects were covered: a) Facilities at the MH, b) Establishment of Sainik Aramgarhs, c) Financial assistance for a decent last rite for deceased Ex Servicemen and d) Dedicated staff for the management of Widows Welfare and Establishment of Old age homes. Announcements Revision of the Handout on the ”Actions to be Taken in the Event of the Demise of a Retired Officer” issued to members had been undertaken. A study team of volunteers under the guidance of Wg Cdr ME Muthu took over the project and his team would endeavour to make the new publication comprehensive.
