But my father was from (MRC) Madras Regiment Centre and my father spoke to his commandant of MRC Colonel Pillai in those days and pleaded mercy to give his resignation. But Col Pillai Commandant of MRC was adamant, having already spared Peter Thangaraj the MRC team did not have a good goalkeeper in the team and my father leaving the services would be a great loss and major setback for MRC football team as it had established already as a good team. In order to retain my father in the service the Commandant considered for his next promotion upon fulfilling his basic criteria of passing the exams and his outstanding Achievement he was promoted into the rank of Junior Commissioned Officer in few years from then later from the period for 1966 to 1973 was indeed a Golden Era for his achievement. He had played for continuously 7 southern command and 7 inter series continuously representing services and major football tournaments such as Durand Cups, Rover’s Cup, IFA shield, DCM Trophy and of course had been an achieve members to represent the Santhosh National football tournament in 1966, 1967, 1968, 1969, 1970.
