Section 1-Messages Newsletter No. 1 / 2020 P a g e 7 | 101 The General took premature retirement in August 1973 and took over as the Managing Director of Bharat Heavy Plate & Vessels Ltd, Visakhapatnam, a Central Government Public Sector Undertaking. In 1974, in recognition of his services during the 1971 Indo-Pakistan war, the President of India awarded him the 'Param Vishisht Seva Medal' (PVSM), the highest military award, after the 'Param Vir Chakra' for gallantry. In 1977, he relocated to Chennai and joined the Enfield India Ltd as Executive Director, a position he held for 5 years. Between 1984–1987, he was Advisor, Brooke Bond Ltd for their newly set-up two-wheeler facility. Later, he served as a consultant for several companies before retiring in 2001 at the age of 79. The General, lives in Kalakshetra Colony, Chennai. He is married to Rajam, his spouse for 70 years, has three sons, grandchildren and great grandchildren. He has been an active Rotarian and a keen sportsman. We are honoured to have Lt Gen C Sundara Rao as our Patron.
