Section 3 - Memoirs Newsletter No. 1 / 2020 P a g e 55 | 101 10 AFVOA Silver Jubilee Celebrations Col Bhupinder Singh Former Secretary AFVOA (2015 – 2019) Genre: Chronicle n 07 th of August 2019, AFVOA completed 25 years of its raising and everyone was eagerly looking forward to the Silver Jubilee Celebrations. Since the AGM of the Association was due in August 2019 and the Executive Committee was also completing its two years of tenure, the Members approved that present Committee conduct the Silver Anniversary Celebrations and then hand over to a new Committee. Subsequently an EGM was organised and a plan to celebrate the Silver Jubilee was discussed and approximate expenditure plan approved by the House. The Executive Committee headed by Maj Gen Rajavelu and his Committee Members Air Cmde Rajaram, Col Bhupinder Singh and Lt Col P Nalathambi commenced planning. They were ably supported by Col A Krishnaswamy, Brig VA Subramaniyam, Brig (Mrs) Muthulaxmy, Col R Balaswamy, Maj VS Chitrapu and Capt (Late) PK Rama Rao. Several meetings were held to discuss and finalise the Silver Jubilee Celebrations. The main time-consuming activity of the event was to design of a Commemorative Memento. After detailed deliberations, a Commemorative Mug design with AFVOA logo was prepared by Col Bala. Design with minor modifications and cost was approved by the EC. The Weather forecast on 01 st of September 2019 also caused problems and finally a calculated risk was taken to go ahead. An E -Invite was prepared and sent to all the Members and Guests approved by the EC. A total of 250 Veterans, guests and the ladies took part in the celebrations. On 01 st of Sep, around 6.pm the hosts in their formal attires and the ladies dressed up in their colourful sarees started arriving and were welcomed by the committee members. The brass band of JAK RIF played in the honour of one and all present in the Institute. The venue bore the look of festivities with due decorations, pleasing lighting, large TV monitors and grand stage for entertainment. O
