Page 45 of 80 THE NEXT MEET IS ON 16 SEP 2012 The next meeting of the AFVOA is scheduled for Sunday, 16 Sep 2012 at the Palm Grove Sainik Institute. Please note that the meeting is on Sunday and not on Saturday. This has been made possible after several consultations with HQ Area. The GOC and his officers have acceded to our request and permitted the meets on Sundays. Our grateful thanks to them. It will now be possible for our members who work on Saturdays to be able to attend our meets. The get-together will start at 1030 hrs with tombola and conclude after lunch. A talk by the CEO of Senior Care India Private Limited (SCIPL), India's first integrated at-home senior care institution providing comprehensive medical and non-medical services to elders, has been arranged during the meet. SCIPL is guided and mentored by India's first geriatric professor Padmashri Dr.V.S.Natarajan. Knowing that elderly loved ones are safe and secure in their homes, even if they need assistance with daily tasks or medical issues, is the wish of all family members, who cannot personally care for their seniors. Many families have reached out to SCIPL for a variety of reasons, and SCIPL as a responsible caregiver is committed to constantly provide the assistance, elderly individuals need to continue living in the privacy and comfort of their homes without compromising on their safety or health. This useful talk will be for twenty minutes followed by Q&A. Members are requested to attend the meet. Ladies are cordially invited to the event. Lunch tokens will be available at Rs 75 per person. FROM THE PRESIDENT’S DESK Dear Members: Often have I thought about the fact that member aspirations are changing, just as everything else is changing around us. A majority of our members have been travelling abroad and their expectations on food, beverages and comforts are quite different from what they were while in service. Air conditioned spaces are preferred and comfortable chairs are a must. Our veterans are more conscious of time and conveniences. They appreciate quick service and hate to wait in long queues. They appreciate arrangements to sit and eat, preferably at tables. Clean wash rooms are a must. We must understand these needs and respond effectively. Every service in the form of a get-together, a lunch or dinner, entertainment or a picnic is shaped from the perspective of our dear members. In addition we must improve all that we already do well and do it even better, faster and more efficiently to help build a lean, responsive and member-led organization.
