AFVOA Newsletters of Year 2012
Page 43 of 80 Live Life King Size or Queen Size for that Matter For most people, life is a repetitive drill. Waking up at the same time, struggling in bed for a few minutes before getting up, brushing the same way, same coffee, same newspaper, a time bound bath, a hurried breakfast, road rage on the way to work, same office, same work, gossip and lunch, same talk, same route back home, same mega serials, same arguments, compulsive dinner, same bed, crash out and wake up another time to another day to the same drill. Life needn't be mundane. Life needn't be boring. Life needn't be a year's experience repeated fifty times. Life needn't be an imposition. Life needn't be a life imprisonment. Of course, there's more to life than simply existing. Pursue a new proficiency every year and see how exciting life can be. Keep the student in you alive - let there never be a phase in your life when you aren't enrolled as an active student. The list is endless. It could be different forms of music, playing instruments, different forms of dance, different systems of alternative medicine, new fitness regimes, yoga, new languages, advanced grammar, creative writing, public speaking, technology, cooking classes, painting, handwriting, new art forms, driving, swimming, different sports, technical education, management, spiritual study groups, gardening, pet birds and animals, aquariums, photography, culture… the list is truly endless. Choose any and always remain an active student. Always be an explorer of life. Keep experimenting. Keep trying. Feed your curiosity and inquisitiveness. Keep attempting something that hasn't been attempted before. Try out new cuisines. Wear clothes you are shy of wearing. Try a new hairstyle. Visit unusual places. Dine on the terrace or at a roadside joint. Men, run the kitchen for a day. Have a husbands' get-together on a Sunday and serve the wives. Spend a day blindfolded, go on voice rest another day - how about one sense fasting? Watch a movie sitting in the first row. Leave your car behind and use public transport for a day. Switch roles at your workplace - how about the MD at the reception for a day? Take the boss's chair for a day. Again, the list is endless. Get creative with life. Keep going. More than all your success, achievements and accomplishments, the formula to a lively life is to keep answering this question: When was the last time I did something for the first time? Today is the first day of the rest of your life. Your future begins now. Celebrate life. Stamp your presence on every day of your life. Spell life with L.I.F.E. Be excited to be alive. Do something right now that you've never done before… right now. PS: Like writing a feature for the AFVOA Newsletter: Editor CT Chari
