From your Editor As the Editor of our News Letter, I am fortunate to interact with most of you. Well, it enables me to continue the friendly and cordial relationship. In a way it promotes our objective to promote camaraderie by ‘Meet, Greet, and Help ‘. Let us all work towards our aim. As we are all aware, to promote these ideals, we have evolved the AFVOA Yahoo group mail system. Veteran members are required to opt for joining the group. The system can achieve the aim only on veteran’s active participation. Not the entire lot of our members with e-mail facility joined and also, some non-members and a few ex-members are continuing in the group. This has defeated the very purpose of the group of maintaining its exclusivity and privacy of information transmission. We have to resolve the problem. The computer buffs of our association and the present committee members can easily sort it out. Presently, as your Editor, I am managing the situation by sending the News Letter and AFVOA related messages. I personally regulate the posting of information of service interest through my group mail named as AFVOA Members group. Since I have not registered it as any social networking group, there is the privacy of the communication. Dear members let us move on by taking on fresh projects, as well as updation of our publications which have won accolades for its ingenuity and utility. We need volunteers to revise, collect data compile and collate latest information and put them in the computer. This will be productive work indeed. ”Together We Can Do it”, as our member Capt Mahajan says in his newly published book. Our President, MajGen CT Chari AVSM, who had gone on a holiday to the USA, has returned on 25 Dec itself on health grounds. He had to be hospitalized and undergo treatment. Members of the association wholeheartedly offer prayers for his speedy recovery and are sure that he will be fit soon. The customary “From the President’s Desk” item, is not finding its place in the News Letter, as we want him to take complete rest to recoup. We must thank our Sister Services, The Navy and the Air Force. The Navy organized the Event“ A Day At Sea”. The attendance was full. Every one enjoyed the experience and the authorities did their very best to make us comfortable with the available resources. For many of us it was perhaps a first experience and enabled us to realize that it is tough and challenging life in the Navy. We thank Cdr Amarjit Saluja and his crew of INS AIRAVAT for the efforts taken by them to make the visit a success. Now the Air force has offered to conduct us to their Air Station Tambram and call it as a “Day with the Air Warriors”. Surely we would be thrilled and enjoy the visit. Our membership subscription can be paid in advance for two to three years if you wish it that way. Some members have paid subscriptions up to 2015!! Perhaps it is faith in our Competence. Surely, we would try our best to live up to your expectations and faith. Read on KRISH Most of the problems are due to the tone of our voice.
