Now that we are on civvy street, our commitments still remain. As a brand, we need to be more relevant to the people among whom we live, to the communityand the country. Thispool of talent called theAFVOAhas the potential to domuch. I will explain very briefly. Military History and Heritage Bring awareness to the public on the military history and heritage of Chennai. This can be done through the following: • Talks and audio visuals at select locations sponsored by AFVOA. • Walks around places of military interest with groups accompanied by guides (members of AFVOA). This will be sponsored by AFVOA. • Participate in activities of Madras Fortnight (Aug every year) with programs sponsored and arranged by AFVOA Salute our Sentinels Bring awareness to the public on the bravery and sacrifices of our soldiers, sailors and airmen. This can be done through the following sponsored activities of the AFVOA: • Talks and audio visuals on our war heroes, particularly from TN • Citizens and youth meet with Chakra recipients and hear first person recount of their exploits • Conducted tour around the war memorial • Visit a warship or submarine, visit a flying station • Day at sea Veterans in Action • Participate in events as a group from AFVOA to show solidarity for a cause or support for a movement. • Select one or two community service projects and obtain corporate funding. Complete the projects on time in a professional manner under the banner of AFVOA. • Team up with Clubs like Rotary, Lions etc and get involved in their social service activities under the banner of AFVOA. • Under the aegis of the AFVOA, offer volunteers to the State Government in their Disaster Mitigation and Relief activities. • As an Organization, provide faculty in specialist areas drawing upon our unique experiences to speak on various platforms. Many of our officers have first hand experience on counterinsurgency ops, aid to civil power, improvised explosive devices etc. Offer our know how. • Act as a watchdog on issues that are of common concern to the citizens and
