The prize winners were immensely pleased with the bonanza they collected. Good Luck to Wg Cdr. Ramachandran and family as they bagged three prizes. The top winners were the family members of Col. I Jayakaran, by collecting four prizes. Nirmala Viswanathan won a prize to break the monopoly. The secretary commenced the routine procedural aspects of the meeting viz. Obituary References, Important announcements, Introduction of new members and intimating the programmes of the day. The audience stood up for observing a minute’s silence to condole the demise of (a) Lt Col. R. Narasimhan Signals (b) Mrs. Shankar (wife of Capt. R Shankar, ASC, our Member.) Lawrence Magima, Arty The AGM of the AFVOA is held to review the performance of the outgoing committee and their contributions towards the management of the Association. Bringing the assembled audience to order, Lt Col. Sundar, the secretary read the well scripted report which was passed unanimously. In the absence of the President Maj Gen. Chattaraman, the Vice President Brig Mohan Thomas, reviewed the activities carried out in the period, which was passed. Financial statements generally evoke a few explanations and clarifications. There were a few advisories only. Lt Col. M Narayanan, the treasurer, known Hot Heads and cold Hearts never solved anything ~ Billy graham for his impeccable honesty, got the audited accounts passed. The approval of the members was obtained to appoint Mr Bhaskar Shenoy as the Chartered Accountants for the Association. The members and the ladies thanked the outgoing team for their dedication and selfless service. The important aspect for selection of the new committee members to run the association for the next two years, was meticulously planned and efficiently executed, by strictly following the Bye laws of the association. Through a notification of the AFVOA, Maj Gen. A. Balasubramanian AVSM, the Immediate Past President, was appointed the Returning Officer for the conduct of Election for the AGM on 19 June 2011.He was correct in his procedures both in letter and spirit. As per laid down procedures, notices were circulated for enabling volunteer members to forward their nomination forms for the posts of President, Vice President, Secretary and Treasurer of the AFVOA. The names of Brig.K. Muthulaxmi, Col. TN Raman and Col. RS Varadhan were the only three nominations received by the intimated due date viz. 17 June2011. The three were declared elected unanimously for the posts of Vice President, Secretary and Treasurer respectively
