AFVOA Newletters of Year 2010

Page 48 of 50 most advanced our veteran’s antenna were certainly up “We too in our country must change ourselves; we have to empower our weaker sections financially, we have to make sure that the villagers get a fair share of the goodies that come out of developments in technology worldwide” has been the constant refrain of our veteran officers. Opinions differ, but it is undeniable that the veteran officers’ thinking has been shaped by his close interaction during service with men who have been drawn from villages, men whose loyalty he admired and deep down resolved that he would always think about them above all else in return for their simple trusts upon the systems of this country. And now, in the aftermath of the visit of His Excellency Mr Barak Obama, President of USA, when that high priest of ‘change’ himself, has by his very presence acknowledged the socio economic changes occurring on our land the veteran is sure to feel that he had not hoped in vain. Certainly there is a long way yet to go. And veterans would be the happiest lot if the move in that direction were faster and our peoples join the comity of nations as equal partners at the earliest. Nearer home, as our President often states there are miles and miles to travel in our path of growth of AFVOA, Generations yet unborn will certainly feel proud of what we have created and nurtured in our times. Yet, it is our duty to leave behind an organization which grows in strength day by day. As already informed our next meeting is a day meet. In addition to Tambola an interesting though simple game is planned. Shh……….. don’t tell any one but it is an electronic game See you all at 1100hrs on Sunday, 21 Nov 2010. A Special Request to Members: In case on are changing your address, phone / cell number or your e-mail ID please do let us know so that we can update your information. From the President’s Desk Let me first of all express my happiness in taking over as the President of the AFVOA after a gap of nearly six months. I am grateful to all Members who enabled Brig Mohan Thomas, the Vice President and his team of committee members in serving you all with zeal and zest during my absence. The important event of Annual General Body Meeting was conducted very satisfactorily and the Annual Report and Accounts were passed without any adverse comments. Our sincere thanks to our respectable Patron and all members. The present Committee has the onerous responsibility of discharging their duties for another eight months. I request the Members to give thought to elect new Committee Members who are younger and capable. It will be a pleasure for all of us to have new Committee with homogenous representation of all Three Services. The AFVOA is a Registered Society and is governed by the Cooperative Society Acts and Rules of TamilNadu Government. Our obligation of submission of documents to the Registrar annually as per the Acts and Rules has since been fulfilled
