The following new members were introduced:- (a) Brig CR Suryanarayanan, AMC (b) Brig C Lakshmanan, AMC (c) Col S Raman, EME (d) Capt G Mohanarangan, ENGRS 26. Honouring of Octogenarian . AVM V Krishnaswamy, VSM celebrated his Sathabishekam ( 80 th Birthday ) on 24 Dec 2005. He was presented with a memento by Lt Gen C Sundara Rao, our Patron and Mrs. Sundara Rao handed over a flower bouquet to Mrs. Jaya Krishnaswamy. All the Members present wished the couple long life and happiness. 27. Announcements. The following announcements were made by the Secretary:- (a) Subscriptions & Receipts. All those who had not paid their subscriptions for the year 2005-06 and for the year 2006-07 were reminded to pay the same to the Treasurer and collect the receipts. (b) E-mail IDs & MDS. Members who had not given their E-mail IDs and also their MDS to the Association were requested to do so at the earliest. (c) Sale of Tel Directories-“Hello Veterans 2004”. All those desirous of buying copies of “Hello Veterans 2004” can do so from the Treasurer at a reduced price of Rs. 50/- per copy. (d) Job opportunity. A construction company needs an Administrative Officer. The remuneration would be Rs. 2.5 to Rs. 3.5 lakhs per anum. Anyone interested may contact Brig NB Subramanian for further details. 28. The GOC, his wife and Staff Officers arrived well before Dr. KP Mishra’s talk commenced. Pleasantries were exchanged and all the guests took their seats. On arrival of Dr. Mishra, the President read out his credentials in brief and welcomed him to the meeting. Dr. Mishra later commenced his talk with a joke defining a ‘consultant’ which sent the entire audience into a rapturous laughter. Though his subject for the day was ” Heart, Humour, Health and Happiness,” he brought in a variety of subjects like medicine, religion, spiritualism, etc. Originally his talk was scheduled for just half an hour but by the time he finished he had taken one and a half hours. But at no point the audience found it boring or monotonous as he regaled them with a feast of jokes. On concluding his talk, he was thanked by the President and was presented a memento by our Patron. 29. After the departure of Dr. Mishra, the President welcomed the GOC, Maj Gen B Sivasankar,VSM, Stn Cdr, Brig G Jaikumar, Staff Officers and their respective families to the meeting. He thanked all of them for having accepted our invitation and being present especially on a Sunday. He also expressed his gratitude to the GOC for placing the resources at our disposal for the meeting. 30. The GOC, at the very outset, thanked the President and all members of AFVOA for their invitation extended to him and his wife and was appreciative of the manner in which the meeting was being conducted. He went on to say that all those who are serving will have to retire someday and on retirement, should keep themselves busy in some activity or the other to prevent ageing faster. At the same time one should keep himself/herself abreast of the
