Page 46 of 75 Poor Matters 38. Annual General Meeting . The AGM is being held on 26 Jun 2005 the Notice for which has already been sent. The Agenda for the AGM is as follows:- a. Address by the Patron. b. Passing of Audited Accounts for the financial year 2004-05. c. Discussion on amendments to AFVOA Memorandum and Bye Laws. d. Points from the President. e. Points from the Members. f. Vote of thanks. Needless to say, for any vibrant organization to function efficiently, participation by all the members is essential. We are pleased to inform you that we have received an encouraging number of letters suggesting improvements/amendments for the Bye Laws. These suggestions will be tabled during the AGM for discussion. The Registrar of Societies has also been invited as per rules in vogue. 39. About Ourselves-Executive Committee . The current Executive Committee which took over in May 2004 was given a fresh mandate to continue for one more year in accordance with provisions contained in the Bye Laws. The Patron had desired that the members be kept in picture about important decisions taken by Executive Committee. Accordingly, we wish to intimate the members the recent decisions that have been taken to streamline the various procedures which are given below:- (a) Adopt a system of Internal Audit every quarter to ascertain the Fund position. (b) Concerted efforts for collection of annual subscription from members. (b) Preparation of stock ledgers. (c) Preparation of SOPs for various routine activities of the AFVOA. (d) Creation of subject-wise filing system. (e) A study team to recommend changes in Bye Laws of the AFVOA. (f) Exemption from payment of IT. (g) Review contents and distribution of Newsletter. 40. Website-Yahoogroup for members. Those members who are computer literate have now an opportunity to exchange news and views on a variety of subjects of common interest. Col N. Viswanathan, one of our founder members has created a website: groups.yahoo.com/ groups/ afvoa and e-mail ID: afvoa@yahoogroups.com for this facility. Presently there are 22 members of AFVOA in this group. Members who are interested to join may get in touch with the architect of this website. Matters Health 41. The AFVOA Newsletter will in future include important information regarding health matters. Since a plethora of information is already available on the net some of us who are computer savvy may have already browsed such information. However, those of us who have no access to the computer may find the information useful. To begin with, an interesting article on Banana is reproduced.
