Before the ‘New Team’ ventures to address the ‘Veterans’ for presenting this third issue of our Newsletter of the Year, we admit that for us, this is a new ball game. We wish to assure you that we shall strive hard to ensure, what you all, MUST, SHOULD and COULD KNOW, in that order of priority, through our Newsletters. 2. Turning back our mind to our days in the ‘uniform’ we would recollect that one of our prime responsibilities was to “Train Our Command”. All through our Service Life, we have been preaching and practising this aspect. To us, in the AFVOA therefore, “taking over the reins of Editorship” was neither a new phenomenon nor was it difficult. We shall rise to the occasion and deliver the goods to the best of our ability. 3. Our aim would be to project the ethos of the AFVOA and also highlight the policy directions and the achievements of the elected management committee in office. 4. Our predecessor, Brig VA Subramanyam, certainly possessed a high degree of journalistic competence. For over five years, he had rendered yeoman service by heading this team and providing us all with a lot of valuable reading material in his own inimitable style. The new team regrets that he had to abruptly take leave of this assignment due to his acute health condition that was beyond his control. We all wish him well and on behalf of all members of AFVOA pray for his early recovery. 5. The layout of the Newsletter would generally be the same as hitherto fore. Often, we in the Armed Forces, take the shelter of ‘Tradition’. A wise man once pointed out that whereas
