Page 73 of 153 Aug 1994 under the Presidentship of Lt Gen Sundar Rao who is also the Patron thereafter has now blossomed into a fairly large body with almost 350 Members. The Association remains grateful to the vision and the able leadership of our beloved patron 3. After the last AGM, we have had a total of Six Meetings and get togethers on 04 May, 06 Jul, 24 Aug, 19 Oct all in 2003 - 05 Jan and 22 Feb in 2004. The 05 Jan get together was a Picnic to Camp Gloria on the East Coast Road. This place with its good facilities is proving to be an excellent spot for our annual picnics. Those Members who have attended the picnic had a good time and felt rejenuated after all the games, quiz and the fun. Our Association owes a lot to Col Krishnaswamy who is our official MC for coordinating and conducting all the events of the day despite the absence of the PA system. Not to be left out was the enormous number of gifts that were available for distribution. In this regard the AFVOA would like to thank the single handed efforts of COL RI Subramanian and a special mention to his good lady and daughters for all the pains they have taken in packing them with colourful wrapers. 4. Keeping in view the aim of the AFVOA to help its members in all aspects of their retired life, the Committee has organized several briefings and issued a special bulletin on all aspects of ECHS. The ECHS registration was organized at this venue on to help the Members. The efforts put in by BRIG KA Subramaniam and Brig Mrs Muthu Lakshmi in preparing the Affidavits was noteworthy which made the job that much more easy. 5. During the get together on 04 May 03 the AFVOA had the oppurtuniity to facilitate the then outgoing GOC Maj Gen AS Jamwal AVSM VSM. All the Members are aware that the General was favorably disposed towards the retired Community and he had introduced several welfare, measures and shcemes for their benefit. He and his wife were visibly touched by the love and affection shown to them by the members of our Association Ithat that evening. 6. Our Association has been trying to organize lectures by eminent people for the benefit of the Members. In this respect we had the fortune to listen to an opt and useful talk during our Meeting on 24 Aug 2004 by Dr VS Natarajan, the well known Geriatric Physician organised by our President personally. Dr. Natarajan’s speech covering all aspects of growing Iod and his advise to overcome this natural phenamina to the extent possible was well received. 7. The AFVOA is also trying to honour the OCTOGENERIANS to the extent possible during the get together. In the last one year we have falicitated two Nanagerians and Seven Octogenerians. 8. Special mention should also be made to the efforts of our editorial team for bringing out regular briefs on PVC winners, the heros who have laid their life for the honour of our mother land lest they may be forgotten as history is meant to be forgotten. 9. As the Association is registered there is a need for the Accounts to be audited by a Chartered Accountant and the same was accomplished, thanks to the efforts put in by our Treasurer Lt Col M Narayanan and also a special mention to our Auditors 10. You are all aware that lots of efforts goes in to the production and dispatch of the information filled Circulars and in this respect the Secretarial assistance provided by Col N Viswanathan for dispatch is well appreciated.
