AFVOA Newletters of Year 2004
Page 58 of 153 Volunteer’s Week, which began during the week commencing 02 nd June 2004, that acts of Volunteering leads one to Better Health . What he mentions regarding “Volunteering” is very apt and bears reproduction here. 80. He mentions that his online health plan focuses on volunteering, and for good reason - volunteering benefits everyone. It provides the opportunity to connect with the community, is a way to help those in need, and can be a rewarding outlet to offer your services and knowledge for a good cause. Without a doubt, giving your time and energy to improve the welfare of others will make a difference in how you feel, and will soon translate into increased inner happiness and peace. Take time to check out local volunteering opportunities in your area . And thus it is only too good, that officers of our Association show such readiness to ‘volunteer’ for holding offices during our annual elections!! 81. Once again an earnest request is made to the members to kindly let the Committee know at least 24-48 hours in advance of the meeting of their attendance or non-attendance. All of you will appreciate, that the quality (and the quantity) of the dinner that is served at our meetings will suffer due to the non-confirmation of a few members. Thus everybody is put to avoidable inconvenience. Please do call up and inform whether you will attend or not . 82. The subscription for the current year is already overdue (it was to be paid in April 2004). Hence please send in your payment at the earliest. It has been noticed that there are a few members who have not paid for a considerable length of time. Your attention is invited to the Bye Law 6.4(d), which states that membership may be terminated in case the subscription is overdue for over a year . 83. Articles, snippets and such like material are invited from members for inclusion in the Newsletter. Further, as is often said at meetings in Chennai - we certainly would appreciate assistance from “one and all” to help us in bringing out this Newsletter – and help can be in very many forms. 84. We do look forward to “volunteers”, whose tribe, we pray, as Abu Ben Adam said, will increase! ˵ ˵ ˵ ˵ ˵ ˵ ˵ ˵ ˵ ˵ ˵ ˵ ˵ ˵ ˵ ˵ ˵ ˵ ˵ ˵ ˵ ˵ ˵ ˵ ˵ ˵ ˵ ˵ ˵ ˵ ˵ Next Meeting Happiness is something you get as a by-product in the process of making something else. ~ Aldous Huxley 85.
