Happiness was born a twin . ~ Lord Byron (1788 – 1824; (British poet) Dear Veteran, Happiness is a state of mind. All of us irrespective of age wish to be happy. It’s the little things in life that often brings the greatest happiness, and a picnic is as good an occasion as any to bring happiness into the lives of members of the AFVOA. Sunday the 23 rd December 2001 was a red letter day in the annals of the Association. The major event of the year – the annual picnic – organised during the midst of unseasonal rains was a resounding success, which spread happiness amongst all the members. That was more than evident when some members remarked just before packing up for the day that they did not want the day to end at all! That comment was an ample reward for the selfless work taken to organise the massive function for the Day. Obituary Death is as sure for that which is born, as birth is for that which is dead. Therefore grieve not for what is inevitable . ~ Bhagawad Gita The members of AFVOA mourn the demise of the following officers, who passed away during the last few months: Lt Col SS Achari, EME Maj Gen KK Menon, AMC Capt S Muniratnam, AMC, our respected member, who was till his untimely demise, the Dean, GH, Chennai, passed away after taking part in the Republic Day functions of the GH on 26 th January 2002.
