PCDA(P) Allahabad, is now issuing a revised pensionary awards under modified parity contained in Government of India, Ministry of Defence letter No 1(i)/99/Dpensions/Services dated 7–05–1999, deleting the NPA element. This deletion of NPA takes effect from 11-09- 2001, and any overpayment beyond 11-09-2001 is to be regularised. However the payment of NPA from 01-01-1996 to 10-09-2001 is not to be recovered till further orders. Seminar on Human Resources in Ex - Defence Officers A seminar on the above subject was organised on 15 th February 2002, under the auspices of the DG Resettlement, New Delhi. HE Shri Ramamohan Rao, Governor of Tamil Nadu was the Chief Guest. Maj Gen N Viswanathan, President, AFVOA, spoke on the occasion. He mentioned that that the Defence Services had personnel who could be readily absorbed by the Industry. He said that in the Defence Forces training was a continuous activity, and thus Service officers were a wealth of material that should be taken advantage of by the Industry. A number of leading industrialists such as Shri T Anantha Narayanan, Director (Finance) Ashok Leyland Ltd., Shri Pradip Mohapatra, CEO RPG Enterprises, Shri JN Amrolia, Executive Director, were among the others who spoke. The DGR generally seemed to be keener on promoting self-employment, rather than re-employment. For further details officers may please contact – DGR, Ministry of Defence, West Block, RK Puram, New Delhi – 110 066 Awards Col (Dr) LRA Narayan, of the Engineers (a member), who is presently a Fellow of the Dr MS Swaminathan Research Foundation, has been recently honoured with the coveted Bhaskara Award, instituted by the Indian Society of Remote Sensing (ISRS), a reputed body of professional remote sensing scientists. Dr Narayan has won acclaim for the innovative methods he has used in remote sensing applications. He has delved into major environmental issues such as analysing the reasons for the reduction in forest cover and in identifying and assessing the extent of wasteland in the country. The Bhaskara award was instituted only three years ago by the department of Space, Government of India. Col (Dr) Narayan is the third recipient of the award. The award consists of a citation and a cash prize of Rs 50.000.00. The AFVOA congratulates Col Narayan, on this notable achievement, and wishes him many more laurels in the future.
