We hope that you and members of your family enjoyed the summer vacation !!. 2. In the last newsletter, a mention was made that the Year 2001 had perhaps started off as a year of “postponements” as the meetings of the Association had to be delayed – due to circumstances beyond our control. Thankfully, the release of the Telephone Directory at the Area Officers Mess allayed such impressions as the programme was organized with clockwork precision. Members may like to know that the serving officers and those who attended the function – many of them for the first time - were appreciative of efforts put in to make it a success. Meeting Gone By Your past is important, but it is not nearly as important to your present as the way you see your future˜ ˜ Jony Campolo ˜ (Sociologist, Theologian) 3. “Hello Veterans” - the Telephone Directory of retired/released officers settled in Chennai was formally released by the General Officer Commanding ATNKK & G Area Maj Gen V Jayashankar. The meeting was scheduled for 1600 hours, so that the regular business of the Association could be gone through before the main release ceremony. It was heartening to note that a large number of veterans braved the hot weather and were in time. 4. Fresh cool nimbu pani that was served to refresh all the members who had come from afar to the Officers’ Mess, which was well away from our usual venue, was very welcome. The new members who joined the fraternity were warmly greeted. As the introductions of these members got over, Maj Gen V Jayashankar, GOC ATNKK and G Area, the chief guest for the function arrived. Obituary Your lost friends are not dead, but gone before, advanced a stage or two upon that road which you must travel in the steps they trod. ˜ Aristophanes ˜ (B.C. 448 380; Greek Satirist)
