Here is wishing you and members of your family a Happy, Healthy, Joyous and Prosperous Gudi Padwa, Ugadi, Baisakhi, Vishu and Tamil New Year. 2. The Year 2001 has started off as a year of “postponements” for the meetings of the Association. The first meet got delayed, due to non availability of our usual venue. The March meeting had again to be re-scheduled due to the ‘kutcheri’ season at the Youth Hostel. Also, our aim was to release the Telephone Directory on which work has been going on for a considerable length of time. The result of all the hard work has finally borne fruit. The Directory will be released at our next meet, details of which are given later in the Newsletter. 3. You must have noticed the new layout of the Newsletter. You would recall that in our earlier issue, we had sought your views, on the various aspects, to make the reading more informative and interesting. The first response, has been from Maj Gen Aban Naidu, our senior member. He has spared all his time and in his own handwriting has suggested the present layout, which we have readily Incorporated. Also, the first article for inclusion has been received from him. The article titled “To the Elderly *** with Love.” appears at the end of this Newsletter. The article enjoins all of us to promote Compassion, Goodwill and Love in the community. 4. The AFVOA has experience and talents in abundance. Surely we can create a bank of articles for inclusion in the magazine. Members are requested to kindly forward the material within a fortnight of the next meet for inclusion in the subsequent issue. Meeting Gone By It is a great pity that things were not so arranged that an empty head, like an empty stomach, would not let its owner rest, until he put something in it. ˜ Olin Miller 5. Keeping in view that sun set timings, the Meeting was scheduled at 5.30 pm instead
