The number of visitors to our site has crossed the 7,000 mark recently. No security threat had ever been detected. As on date, the number of hits to the website stands at 7,072 (as on Apr 08, 2021), which is considered very healthy for a non-commercial and a service oriented site such as ours. The site is favourably placed for monetization, if ever the Association decides to go for it eventually. In the period between Dec 16, 2020 and Apr 14, 2021, we have had the following two incidents : 1. A forced downtime of 60 hours from 07:10 AM on Feb 04, 2021 till 08:20 PM on Feb 06, 2021, owing to the backend Server crash at the Service Providers (GoDaddy) end. The Service Provider has assured that adequate measures have been put in place by them to avoid recurrence. 2. Owing to a freak accident during the periodical software upgrade of the operating environment on Mar 02, 2021, a file with the users’ credentials data for the Member’s Login page of our website was lost. The Managing Committee was constrained to request our Members to re-create the credentials all over again. The Committee expresses its regret for this occurrence. Our internal back-up routines have been re-visited and strengthened now to avoid recurrence. Google Analytics indicate that in addition to Users from India, the site is regularly being accessed from the US of A and Australia. The website has indeed enabled the Association to spread its wings and leave a global footprint. The website also provides a one-click access to our YouTube channel. Some of our new members joined the Association after chancing upon our website. Apart from the meagre initial investment, and the annual renewal of the web hosting environment, there has been no expenditure incurred on regular maintenance so far. It is a low-maintenance venture and the benefits far exceed the cost. Google Analytics tool is of very limited use for a website that has been primarily designed for Veterans’ welfare, without any commercial orientation or eCommerce leaning. However, the tool certainly presents data on the reach of the website to the parts of the globe, viewership pattern as well as viewers’ preferences in terms of the content of the website.
