And as a token of our appreciation for the GOC to have taken time out from his engagements and encouraged the Veterans, Smt Rajam Rao presented a memento to him. In passing, mention should also be made of a new find for handling the task of an Announcer or better known as Master of Ceremonies. Maj (Smt) S Pallavi, who is a young and bubbly lady, who was formerly with the ASC, and is now with ICICI Lombard, did an excellent job of complementing the male voice – which was none other than self who normally calls the numbers of the Tambola! Considering that due to various constraints, a combined rehearsal was not practicable, the announcers did do a competent job. In conclusion, it must be appreciated that doggedness and determination does work wonders. Sqn Ldr Unni, in spite of his multifarious work schedule, decided to single- handedly work on this project of a Musical Nite. But for his focus and intention nothing much would have come about. But Unni left nothing to chance. Resolutely, he motivated people to volunteer to take part in the programme. And in his laptop he loaded a few thousands of orchestral music from films of various languages in order to ensure, that all types of musical scores wee available for anyone who attempted to take part in the function. But for his encouragement and motivation, the musical nite may have remained more on paper than being actually performed to a well-informed and knowledgeable audience. Thunderous claps and cheers for Unni and hoping the AFVOA get more such Unnis in the near future. Note: (There are a few reasons for writing this part of the last meeting. Firstly it is to try and give as graphic a description as possible, so that members who did not/could not/ attend the Musical programme, are able to visualize as to what they missed out, by not coming over for the Meet. Secondly, to create a record of sorts – as to the artistic talents available with us in the AFVOA.)
