Section 4 – War Diary CV 2 No. 03 / 2020 Page 57 of 167 Many years after Krish’s retirement, in Oct 2012, we were invited to attend the 41st Anniversary of the operations of the 4 Corps during 1962 in Tezpur. Krish was among the few, who had been a part of the Corps both in 1962 and in 1971. I never had the opportunity to visit the eastern side of our country, beyond Calcutta during Krish’s service career. It was a great revelation for me to see the beauty of our tea gardens, massive mountains with winding roads and the vast expanse of the Brahmaputra River. Krish reminded me that it is nice to ride in a car now but years ago, as an infantry man he had trudged along the route right up to the border. I was also fortunate to accompany Krish to visit Dacca to attend the Liberation Day functions on an invitation from the Government of Bangladesh. As state guests, we were honoured during several occasions. We were taken around on a conducted tour of Dacca which included a cruise on the Padma River and shopping for the famous Dacca sarees and fresh water pearls. We could not visit the battle site at Mile stone 10 on the Joydebpur -Dacca road, where Krish had laid the successful ambush, as over the period the residential complexes had come up and the area could not be recognized. Some progress of City Life!! We are very grateful to God for the divine grace by guarding us all through our life. We have had many memorable moments perhaps many more to come. About the Author Mrs K Sulochana was born to a Police family. She is a graduate from Queen Mary’s Collage Madras and Post Graduate of History from Presidency Collage Madras. Happily married in 1961, to then Capt Krish she has been an Army wife for almost six decades. They have two sons, elder is CTO of TCS and younger one a Commodore in the Indian Navy. One of their grandson is recently commissioned in the Indian Navy continues the family tradition.
