Section 2 – News / Updates from the Association CV 2 No. 03 / 2020 Page 22 of 167 Digitisation of Records of AFVOA Members The committee felt the need to digitise the records of our members to ensure their availability at all times. Some of the membership forms that we have are nearly 25 years old and over this period of time they have become brittle and dog eared. This digitisation process started on 09 Oct 20 and we have digitised the records of about two – thirds of our members. Records of about 88 members are not available with us and we have requested these members to submit fresh application forms. We are hopeful of completing this digitisation process by the end of this year. Digitisation of Archived Newsletters of AFVOA The history of any organisation is of immense value and is beneficial to those who join the organisation in later years. Similarly, history of AFVOA is profound and this MC felt that we must make an effort to preserve our history. The back issues of AFVOA Newsletters literally chronicle our history and tells stories of Veterans who have worked together to build its legacy. We in the committee felt that the only way to continue with this legacy is to digitise all the past issues of AFVOA Newsletters. For this process we requested our members to share the past issues of Newsletters that are available with them and we are extremely grateful to Brig V A Subramanyam, Col A Krishnaswami, Brig S P Balachandran, Gp Capt L V Mohandas and Capt R Shankar who came forward to share their collection with us. As of 15 Oct 20 we have digitised the available Newsletters of the years 2000 to 2005, 2012 and 2013. All these digitised Newsletters are available on our AFVOA Website. It is proposed to complete the second wave of digitization of Newsletters by Dec 31, 2020. Our net deficiency as on date is as below.
