Section 5 - Memoirs CV 2 No. 03 / 2020 Page 141 of 167 18 Don’t Let The Old Man In Maj Gen Jose Manavalan AVSM Genre: Poem ow that we’re 70 I want to live some more Can’t leave it upto HIM He’s knocking on my door! We knew all our lives That someday we gotta go But let me beat the draw And don’t let the old man in Many moons we have lived To tell the tale to all who care But now the body’s aging And the mind struggles to keep pace New fangled things have come in Which disturb my peace I’ve forgotten when I was born Just won’t let the old man in Try to love your own And stay close to your friends Toast each sunrise with joy Don’t let that old man in Are you caught in a time warp? Old is surely wise Break out of this mould we surely won’t Just won’t let the old man in Sundowners are made for me Toast each one with glee Keep our spirits high Just don’t let that old man in!! Cheers to life. N
