People more adept at drinking will probably understand – the environment suddenly felt so peaceful. I slept like a baby although wonder why they say that because babies get up so often at night! It was good times again for me and lasted through the rest of the war as I continued this practice. I can never thank that bar man enough for great advice he had given. I do believe that someone up there sends a messenger when one is in real need. The war ended on the 16 th and did I stop this new found magic potion to sleep? May be! About the Author Wg Cdr S. Balasubramanian VrC was a QFI (Qualified Flying Instructor) and Squadron Commander. He took active part in the 1971 war and carried out many deep strike missions and was awarded the Vir Chakra. After early retirement from IAF became Air India Pilot and served for a long time & settled down at Mumbai.
