AFOVA New Letter 2 of Year 2021
Section 7 – Panorama CV 2 No. 02 / 2021 Page 256 of 332 I yanked the door open. Ashwani was leaning against the wall – a flood of emotions ran through me, most of all relief and joy as my fears washed away. I held him in a tight hug. But how did he find his way to my unknown address in the middle of the night! And then I saw him. An embarrassed, guilty-looking Ram Singh stood behind Ashwani smiling at me. I saw my joy and relief mirrored on his face. Ram Singh had gone back to the bus stand in the dead of the bitterly cold night after dropping me. There couldn’t have been a thought for his own comfort at his lone vigil in the open place. He had waited patiently through the interminable hours for my brother while I slept in the warmth of my bed. I salute Ram Singh for his selfless, devoted concern. It is the prospect of carrying such men into battle that has made the Indian Armed Forces so special.
