Section 1-Messages CV 2 No. 02 / 2020 Page 6 of 237 Section 1 – Messages Message from the President AFVOA Chennai Vanakkam On behalf of the Editorial Committee it is my honour and privilege to present to you our Newsletter, in a new avatar, “Chennai Veterans’ Vibes” (CV 2 ). This is meant to be a wholesome document to be savoured long, like a good single malt. Our first Edition was released 105 days ago at the end of Phase1 of the Lockdown. Many of us who are senior citizens above 65, are advised to remain indoors. Not the best of times, but this Management Committee has kept the Members spirit high by rapidly adapting to the new normal. I thank the Members who have contributed to this edition. Included are several interesting articles from all round the country and abroad. I thank the authors for their contribution. Enhancements have been made thanks to the incisive feedback. Your appreciation has inspired the Editorial Team to produce a document worthy of the AFVOA. War Diary is a new Section that has been introduced. You will read stories of valour and courage that is an honour to publish. This Section is especially significant to prepare for the next Edition slated to release on 16 Dec 2020 to commemorate the “Vijay Diwas”. I request you to collect, write and bring in untold heroic stories during the next 4 months. E-Connect through virtual meetings has been a booming success. I am proud to share with you the spontaneous acceptance of the eminent speakers to spend time with us, on merely hearing the name of AFVOA. We have indeed arrived as an organisation. Another super feather in our cap has been the launch of our website, www.afvoa.in which has already received 850+ hits in a mere 7 days. Veterans have started to flock in seeking to join us. The website has been the Kohinoor of this MCs achievement and is a dream come true for the AFVOA. The 3-man Editorial Committee deserve kudos for publishing 2 Editions without having physically met for 5 months.
