AFVOA Newletter August 2020

Section 6 – eConnect Reviews CV 2 No. 02 / 2020 Page 193 of 237 As our able host for the evening Dr Shobha Varthaman pointed out, Rasika breezed in like a Malaya Marutham, enthralled and floored us with her ingenious, mellifluous music and her calming stage presence and breezed out, leaving very pleasant memories of the event. The very purpose of this Report is to gently remind Rasika of her promise to perform live for us Veterans when she is in Chennai next. Virtual meeting is all very well but we are losing out on simple pleasures of walking up backstage, compliment in person and get a selfie / autograph done. Zoom would do well to juxtapose / superimpose screens and enable photoshopping of joint photographs of intending participants. Being one of us (remember Rasika is married to a military brat, so to speak), nothing would give us more happiness to see her career graph rise meteorically. Rasika, in our true military traditions, we raise a toast in your honour ! May you succeed in every endeavour and reach dizzying heights! That is, be a ‘Mover and Shaker (Shekar?)’ in the international music circuit! The participation among the veterans today was a healthy 75, but there is room for more. Virtual meeting is an idea whose time has come. Let us adopt it as the new normal and capitalize on it during these difficult times. Until we meet next! JAI HIND
