Section 5 - Memoirs CV 2 No. 02 / 2020 Page 105 of 237 Why was a posting to Jorhat considered as a punishment posting? Officers’ quarters were in plenty and we walked in to an OMQ without any waiting. We have a wonderful stay at Air Force Station Jorhat. The flora, fauna, weather everything was perfect. Yes, the only issue that we faced was power cuts lasting up to 13 to 14 hours every day. So what was considered as punishment posting turned out to be one of the best tenures of air force life. Would I undertake a similar journey under similar condition today? I have no answer. What was the issue with Harsha that rubbed off the senior officer which resulted in a posting to Jorhat? Harsha is still silent on the subject. Being an Accounts Officer he is a stickler for rules and there must have been some issue of Financial propriety which he would have objected to. Foot Note: That baby today has done his Masters in Netherlands and settled there. About the Author Chandrika Harsha is an architect by profession and was working in Bhopal with the Govt of Madhya Pradesh till her marriage. After her marriage she took the call to be homemaker because of lack of opportunities to practice her profession since her husband was mostly posted at remote locations.
