The First AFVOA meeting was held in the Defence Officers Recreation Centre at the Defence Colony Nandambakkam at the request of the members on 24 September2000. Apart from the routine entertainment activities, announcements on service maters, the notable occurrence on that day was the announcement regarding the progress of the project telephone directory in which the nominated silent workers had been assiduously working to produce a draft list of almost 2000 veterans. The printer was also identified with the help of Col RI Subramanian. A senior veteran from the Air Force AVM V Krishnaswami VSM joined the fraternity. He was also holding the responsibility of President of the Air Force Association Tamil Nadu chapter apart from being an advisor to a very noble charitable trust caring for “special children”. The next meeting was held at the Picnic location at NEELKANTH FARMHOUSE on the new Mahabalipuam road on10 December 2000. Picnics have always been a great attraction both for the male and lady members. It is a whole day programme for rest recreation and everyone looks forward for this day. Our organizers take pains to make interesting programmes and enjoyable party games. The caterers provide for Breakfast, sumptuous lunch, Evening Tea and Packed dinner. The ladies have a complete rest for the day and saved from the visit to the kitchen. This picnic too was very enjoyable. The next meeting was scheduled for28 Jan 2001 when the New Committee would take over the reins of administration. The New Year 2001 was just a week away ( To be continued in the next Edition)
