Section 3 - Memoirs Newsletter No. 1 / 2020 P a g e 73 | 101 15 210 Years of Camaraderie Lt Gen V R Raghavan, PVSM UYSM AVSM Genre: Life in the Forces esterday I spoke to my old Commanding Officer. He is 93 years! I learnt of his whereabouts from a 23 years old Subaltern who had been tasked by his CO to contact veterans of the battalion. The 93 years Brigadier sounded frail but clearly remembered the old times. I am 84. That makes a triad of 210 cumulative years, not counting the present Commanding Officer serving on the LC in J&K. My photo of a few years back is attached. The dog has preceded me to the other world. Keep safe Fellow Veterans. Join me for a beach stroll after the Pandemic. ( The General was trained in the NDA (11 Course / Charlie) and commissioned in the Indian Army in the Punjab Regiment, the oldest Infantry Regiment. In his glorious career he has commanded a Division in Kargil and Siachen. He held the most prestigious operational post of the Director General Military Operations at the Army HQ. A scholar soldier who has held numerous international and national posts. Among them as a Council Member of IISS, London for 6 long years; Member International Commission on Nuclear Disarmament, Member NSAB, Member Naresh Chandra Committee on Defence Reorganisation and Member Justice Jeevan Reddy Committee for Reforms to AFSPA. He lives in Chennai.) Y
