Section 3 - Memoirs Newsletter No. 1 / 2020 P a g e 65 | 101 A letter from Lt Col Sajjad, who himself is highly decorated and fought the ’71 war as a Lieutenant, shows what the whole country feels even today. Joi Bangla!! 02 February 2019 Dear Sir, It was indeed a great pleasure on my part to have met you during your kind visit to Bangladesh, a country for whose Liberation you have so much contribution. Let me humbly commend you, who as a dutiful child of your country, came forward to fight savages in animal form marching through a tidal wave of blood. Simultaneously history was being written by your fellow soldiers, who were sacrificing their lives for a noble cause. These moments made each of them a legend, and time has made each of you a hero. You fought for freedom and won as you fought for principle, justice and humanity. You came to connect with the past and I congratulate you for your effort. May Almighty keep you and all members of your family safe and healthy. Kindest Regards, Lt Col (Retd) Quazi Sajjad Ali Zahir, Bir Protik, Swadhinata Padak Author and Researcher House No. 2, Road No. 5, Nikunjo-1 (South), Dhaka-1229, Bangladesh
