In the end, we were overawed with 3 Ms instead – Metro, Metrics (their achievement in numbers presented) andMagnitude! To say Chennai Metro is a great achievement would be a gross understatement. Well done CMRL. We raise a toast in your honour and wish you geometric progression, larger footfall and many more happy landings! Thank you, Wg Cdr Gurunath Reddy. The event ended with a sumptuous lunch. As for the veterans and families, it was a refreshingly pleasant and different experience of delving deep into a domain hitherto unknown. A day very well spent indeed! Unaffected by all the buzz and excitement around, our ever-active Col A Krishnaswami, ably assisted by the Managing Committee members, was busy distributing Directories & Silver Jubilee Mugs to attain the military milestone of “Mission Accomplished”! As only she can, taking a cue from the last slide of CMRL’s presentation, Mrs Lalitha Mohandas rendered “God Bless us all” as a mark of our appreciation of CMRL’s gesture, with a few other members joining in. It was business as usual for Harsha who was busy enrolling new members even at the venue. As the President pointed out, Harsha drafted in Wg Cdr Gurunath Reddy into AFVOA even during their first meeting for discussing logistics associated with our visit. It is time now for us to give a standing ovation to the selfless service rendered by the Managing Committee Members, past and present, for having taken AFVOA to where it is today.
